181 David Williams
Position : Goalkeeper
Played : 1991-92 (on loan from Burnley)
Appearances : 6
Goals : 0
David was hastily signed on loan from Burnley after Kevin Dearden's recall to Tottenham. He had started out at Oldham but made his League debut with Burnley in April 1989 and had played another 16 League games for them.
I wasn't expecting much from Chris Pearce's understudy but actually he was sound enough (apart from away at Coventry in the League Cup where he let four in ) and contributed to our excellent start . Importantly, he had a good game away at Burnley where he kept a clean sheet and we won 1-0. Frank Casper their manager paid for his crazy decision to let him play when he was sacked following their next game. People said that David had actually given Casper the finger when coming off the pitch but I didn't see that myself.
David returned to Turf Moor and made a handful of further appearances for them before joining Cardiff in 1994 . He was first choice keeper at Ninian Park for two seasons making 82 appearances before surprisingly disappearing into the League of Wales with Ebbw Vale.
