247 Glen Robson
Position : Forward
Played : 1996-97 to 1997-98
Appearances : 10
Goals : 0
Glen was a young striker apparently discovered by Docherty's leftover youth coach Jimmy Robson playing in the north east for Murton FC. He joined us in November 1996 and after some good performances in the reserves made his debut as a late substitute at home to Hull in February 1997.
Glen never started a game for us and was usually brought on when we were chasing a game - seven of his 10 games ended in defeat. He looked lightweight and not really up to it ; it was surprising that he was allowed 18 months to try and make his mark.
Glen went back into non-league with Harrogate Town but really came to life with Blyth Spartans where he scored 88 goals in 125 games. That got him a second chance at League football with Darlington in 2003 but he failed to score in 6 appearances and moved on to Durham City. He has since played with various non-league sides in the north east and is currently with Stokesley FC.
Glen concludes the 1996-97 season.
