322 Shane Cansdell-Sherriff
Position : Centre half
Played : 2002-03 (on loan from Leeds United)
Appearances : 3
Goals : 0
Shane was a young Australian defender signed on loan in November 2002 from Leeds. His League debut was for us away at Oxford.
Credit where it's due, Simpson was unlucky with Shane. His debut performance was remarkable; he didn't put a foot wrong, looked very composed and took all the free kicks with his impressive left foot. Gareth Griffiths said it was the best debut he'd ever seen. Unfortunately he got injured two games later and had to go back to Leeds.
He was released in the summer due to Leeds' financial meltdown and went to Danish side AGF Aarhus making 82 appearances for them and scoring 7 goals. He returned to England 3 years later with Tranmere for whom he made 87 appearances scoring six. In June 2008 he reunited with Simpson at Shrewsbury for £312,000 and is there at present. He has been called up to the Australian squad recently but has yet to win a full cap,
