320 Scott Warner

Position : Midfield (also  played  at  right  back)

Played : 2002-03  to  2005-06

Appearances : 73

Goals : 2

Scott was a YTS player groomed by Jamie Hoyland who made an early appearance as a late sub in the game at Wrexham. Later in the season he had a run of games at right wing back including the FA Cup game at Wolves where he looked very raw ; of all the youngsters drafted in by Simpson as he fell out with the senior players Scott looked the least ready.

Alan Buckley largely ignored him but Steve Parkin found a use for him , generally in away games, as a sitting midfielder who could break up play and make a simple pass. That’s really all Scott could do; he had no skill or vision. He never became a regular in the side and his appearance in home games was usually greeted with groans . However every dog has his day and at home to Torquay in his final season Scott produced a thirty-yard piledriver which flew into the net , one of the goals of the decade. Although Scott featured in  about half  the  games in 2005-06  he was released at the end  of  the  season.
He had a year with Radcliffe Borough then joined Hyde, last appearing for them in December 2007. He is now apparently retired so I’m guessing he picked up an injury.
