339 Andy Bishop
Position : Forward
Played : 2003-04 (on loan from Walsall )
Appearances : 10
Goals : 1
Andy was brought in in November after we parted company with Antoine-Courier. The 21 year old had been a professional for just over a year and had spent most of the previous season and the early part of 2003-04 on loan at Kidderminster scoring 8 in 39 appearances.
Andy had the misfortune of arriving in the middle of the run of six straight League defeats that put Alan Buckley on borrowed time and he made his debut in the 0-4 rout at Southend. He actually performed quite well holding the ball up and putting the effort in and he helped stop the rot with the opening goal in our victory at Bury in December. Having said that he never looked really dangerous. Steve Parkin wasn't impressed and after a couple of substitute appearances he returned to Walsall in January.
A fortnight or so later he went on loan to Yeovil and scored twice in 4 games but niggling injuries prevented them from signing him. In the summer he voluntarily left Walsall without having played a first team game for them and went into the Conference with York. He was the Conference top scorer in 2005-06 with 23 goals which got him back into the League with Bury. He was a prolific scorer for them in his first three seasons but didn't get the big move he was looking for and a combination of sulking and injuries have made the last two seasons a fairly barren time for him.
