Mark was signed, along with the next player to be covered, from Kidderminster for a combined fee of £35,000. Mark started his career in the Premiership with Leeds making most of his 19 appearances for George Graham in the 1996-97 season. For the next couple of seasons he was restricted to reserve football and loan action at Huddersfield and Barnsley then joined Scunthorpe on a free transfer in March 2000, He had 5 years there as a popular captain but after an injury-hit last season he was allowed to join Kidderminster in March 2005. He wasn't able to prevent their relegation and less than a year later chose to return to League football with us.
I thought Mark was a good signing at the time but luck wasn't on his side. He was injured on his debut at Oxford and out for 6 weeks then struggled to impress during a very poor end to the season. Injuries continued to dog him the following season and some of his sporadic appearances were at right back where he didn't look comfortable. A poor performance at centre half in the home defeat to Barnet in April sealed his fate and was his last League appearance.
He joined Farsley Celtic and soon became assistant-manager. He continues with the phoenix club Farsley AFC.
