Stephen was brought in during March to cover an injury to Gary Jones. He had made 22 appearances for Hartleppol after coming through the youth side but wasn't being picked anymore.
He was already a hero for getting Bury chucked out of the FA Cup earlier in the season after playing in a tie against Chester for which he was ineligible.
Stephen looked reasonably tidy but didn't have much influence on the games in which he played. The latter two were only brief substitute appearances.
He spent another year in the reserves at Hartlepool then joined his twin brother Phil at Gateshead .
Despite playing 40 games he was released after a year and now plays for Blyth Spartans.
