416 Chris Basham
Position : Midfield
Played : 2007-08 ( on loan from Bolton )
Appearances : 13
Goals : 0
Chris also made his debut as a substitute in the game against Hereford. The 19- year old giant ( again wikipedia's 5' 11 is ludicrous ) was originally a youth player at Newcastle but signed professional for Bolton in 2006. He'd had 3 games on loan at Stafford Rangers before coming to us.
Most of Chris's appearances were as substitute so it was difficult to form an accurate impression of his capabilities. He certainly could put over a good cross and seemed to have a good range of passes. On the down side he was very clumsy in the tackle and picked up a couple of yellow cards for mistimed challenges. He's also remembered for the club's cock-up when negotiating his loan that meant it expired before the play-offs and made him ineligible to appear, a costly error when Perkins was suspended for the Final.
Chris returned to Bolton and broke into the first team the following season. He made 18 appearances in the Premiership over the next two seasons before switching to his hometown club Blackpool for £1 million last summer. He made 2 appearances for them before breaking his leg in a reserve game in November but resumed playing in the reserves before the end of the season.
